MashAllah 3alaha!!! I love how she points out the fact that women’s view on religion depends on the culture of that country. I also like how she stated “Human development, not secularism is the key to women’s development.” We need to stop blaming religion for our backwards thinking in this country. It’s not religion, it’s the stupid culture that has nothing to do with religion. There are many countries that are religious that are far more developed than some secular countries. Take the United Arab Emirate for example. They are holding on to their Islam, but are moving so quickly in the sciences and technology. Their women are going to college at a higher rate than their men.
I can only emphasize how much faith I do have in Egyptian people and Dalia’s TED Talk confirms that faith I have. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, I know the high hopes of Egyptians will come to fruition as long as there are opportunities like this for the “voices” of men and women alike can be heard!
